Statement of support for ANS to H.R. 6846, CORRUPT Act

As proved yet again by Russia’s brutal invasion of Ukraine earlier this year, the corrupt Putin government is a threat to democracy and prosperity in the region as much as it is the cause of misery inside Russia. Those who enable the crimes of Putin’s regime profit from their government’s corruption and aren’t concerned with the suffering it inflicts internally or externally. The enablers of Putin’s invasion of Ukraine must be targeted directly.

Therefore, the Belarus Freedom Forum thus strongly endorses the Amendment in the Nature of a Substitute to H.R. 6846, CORRUPT Act, which would require the President to review a list of almost 200 such individuals implicated in corruption and human rights violation and determine whether they meet the criteria for the imposition of sanctions.
